About the Speaker
- Mark Mitton was born in Twin Falls, Idaho was educated in the Magic Valley and graduated from Oakley High School. Mark served in the Washington D.C. mission from 1982 to 1984 then returned home and attended Brigham Young University (BYU). Mark earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from BYU in 1981 and a Master of Public Administration from BYU in 1984.
  
  Mark has over 35 years of experience in local government management. Mark began his career interning for both Sandy City, Utah and Provo City, Utah. During school, Mark also worked as a graduate assistant to Professor Carl Snow. After graduation, Mark worked for Jackson County, Oregon as the Assistant County Administrator, in Tuolumne County California as the County Manager, and currently works as the City Administrator of Burley, Idaho.
  
  In 2007, Mark received the International City/County Management Association “Program Excellence Award” for “Strategic Leadership and Governance.” Mark also received an ICMA Program Excellence Award in 2016 for Community Partnership. Mark is a “Credentialed City Manager” through the International City Management Association (ICMA). Mark has also served as the Idaho “City Management Association”, State President, and was Chairman of the Region IV Development Corporation. He currently serves as the grants director for the Oakley Arts Council and also donates his time to helping smaller communities find grants and funding opportunities.
